I posted some pics of some Thomas Jefferson beans I got from a friends wife last winter. The beans look like oreo cookies, black on each side with white in the middle. She reported that all of the seeds she gave me would be viable. She was right.
I've looked for the before pics and can't find them yet. I linked a page that tells the history behind the bean as it is heirloom Thomas Jefferson. The plant is typical bean looking with vines and characteristic three leaves. The flower is gorgeous! It looks like an orchid. The flowers are light to dark purple and have a long bloom, at least 8 weeks here in Florida. The beans are an amazing magenta. It is cool.
If you want any, I can ship you free seeds when the pods ripen. I got my seeds last year from her freezer and held them in a drawer til this spring. Everyone produced.

Really? That'd be cool based on that alone. I accept! Beans will be ready in a few weeks. I guess we can take a cutting anytime but winter, so we should be good. We've enjoyed the heck out of these beans, they were fun watching grow all year.
Edit: wait a minute... Mrs Jefferson Davis? I was thinking Mrs Jefferson (no not Weezie from the TV show!). I thought the pair would be cool. But you can still have the beans...LOL

Chris and Paul- I'll have beans by the thousands. Why don't I send ya some and you can try them. This is my first grow. I was told they are aggressive and I can see it. I'll keep ya posted on them and when the pods drop, I'll dry em and send yal'll some. Meg, we'll met up probably this winter when you come to my kick-ass Holiday party! Yes- that's an invite. You must come!

Beans, beans, good for your heart... You know the rest
I harvested my bean pods and let them dry out. Cracked em open and plenty of beans to share.
Anyone wanting beans- I can send them to you. I'll send USPS with a single stamp. Since it would be silly for you to send me fifty cents, the beans are free to the first 10 to reply. Just PM me with address and I'll get them out to you. I have plenty, so I'll send 15 per pack.

They got here, thanks Tim, and the part for the washer came, but it will have to wait until we get back. Two renters jumped leases in florida so down we go again, paint, tile fix up, rent again lol. We knew it had been too stable for too long................
