Here's a neat trick to git rid of that nasty long string algae. Take two sections of fiberglass chimney sweep rod and chuck them into your drill. Then just go around the edge of your pond and the algae will just wind right up on the rod. Then using a razor knife, just shave the algae off the rod.

I got one of those Steve! mine is a little more low tech, not so easy to clean off either...

I never touch the algae and I wind it bigger than it shows here.

That looks pretty neat Bill. Do you wind it by hand or can it get chucked in a drill?

I don't think you could put a motor on it.
You extend it till the brush is visible, then put it in the algae and twist. I keep a bucket beside me and dispense the algae in it,
My hands never get wet or dirty. It extends far enough I can reach across the pond.
