Thanks so much for the pics. I got up 3 times last night and couldn't see it because of the clouds. It was the absolute darkest I've ever seen it.

I didn't get up to see it, but it was so cloudy here I probably would not have been able to see much anyway. I am looking forward to the next total solar elipse. I saw one once as a child but my kids have never seen one. That is a spectacular thing to see! It goes from daylight to total darkness in the middle of the day. Next one visible from South Carolina is August 17th, 2017. It will come directly through the middle of SC. Here's a map to see if you will be able to see it from your home:

Addy, thank you for your photos. My whole clan here has been gawking at them since it was too cloudy to see anything. We heard on the news that it was 450 years since the lunar eclipse coincided with the winter solstice. Too cool!

I made a point of staying up since the next time it occurs during winter solstice I sure won't be around. The winter skies can be so clear and sharp. The clouds nicely stayed away until the total eclipse was starting to end.
I am glad you enjoyed the pictures.
We watch the skies all of the time, compete on who can count the most satellites we see flying over. So far I have a count of 10 one early early am tub sitting.

Very cool photos addy! It seems it was too cloudy for most people to see it at all. Over here, of course, we didn't have the total eclipse. So amazing that it was a full moon, Winter Solstice, and a lunar eclipse, all in the same night! Happy Solstice, everyone!

I have a canon slr with great lenses. I bought a digital back to replace the slr but still be able to use the lenses.
The lens I used is a 100-400mm, with the camera on a tripod.
My dad bought us kids brownies, black and white, we used to develop the pictures in the bathroom. Always have a camera in hand.

My Dad had his own dark room and I've always enjoyed taking photos. So does my one daughter-in-law and she has an slr. They're AWESOME! Take INCREDIBLE pictures. I should have asked Santa for one!
Great job on the photos.
