Welcome Cherokee. I personally would love to see some pics and hear some stories form you and your buddy. Yes, the hobby is bigger and better than ever before. It is an exciting time to be involved and changes are coming. There has been a distinct leap from years past. More people spending higher amounts and having more successes! The hobby is not only growing, but the education and care levels are rising as well. A great combo for any hobby.

Note: I am not a moderator or have anything to do with this forum so don't take my word on this- As for posting other forum links, I'd refrain. The Pond Forum has identified itself as a place to go where there is no clutter, if you know what I mean. If there is a specific question to be addressed than maybe a link is OK. I will note that there are esteemed owners of other forums on here as proud members; and they particpate accordingly. Heck, most of us are members of other forums as well. That's fine and in fact encouraged. One needs to educate oneself from many sources.

As a suggestion, he may want to join here and particpate as well. Through osmosis, his forum would be discovered. It's just a matter of time. We're all here to learn, socialize and have fun. Let's keep it that way by letting things come naturally with no influence. As for the vendors you see, these are all very known and very trusted vendors that have paid good dollars to advertise here. Think of it this way, your buddy has probably put his heart, soul, and money to get his forum going. It would a crusher for him to have his baby populated with advertisements and links to other places and no real substance to the forum. Besides, that's what google is for!

Enough of that. So, tell us what you have and come join the fun!

This is the first time to try this pond stuff, I always had Aquariums I guess the best one that I ever had was a 125 gallon Cichlid tank but when I moved from Arizona to Oklahoma in 1990 had to sell it. What we are doing now as a sideline we will be breeding mostly Fantails, Shubunkin and Ryukin for local folks who just want a nice looking inexpensive fish for their ponds.

Welcome to the forum, Cherokee! We're glad to have new members at all times, and it looks as if you've gotten a start in ponding. Outstanding! As an aquarium keeper, I know that you know the value of water quality and accurate, timely testing, that's great. Ponds can be a bit more challenging at times, but well worth the effort. Look around here, a little time spent on the various forums here is well worth the time investment.

For now, I'm expecting heavy rains to begin around midnight. I'm in the middle of a pond expansion, so I've got 2-3 hours to get ready for it! TTFN!

You will have some Goldey fans here. I find hardcore goldey fans are just as fanatic as any other fish group. Heck, I'd like to learn more about them as my wife would like to keep some. I too come from an aquarium background. I find my pond just as rewarding and fulfilling. The people are terrific as well.

    Glad to have ya!

You don't have a pond it's more like a small lake at 70,000 gallons.
