I'm not sure what variety Dick is talking about, but I believe you are thinking of Karashigoi. I was going to buy one along with a couple friends this past fall. But then what are we suppose to do with a 4 year old 40inch Koi ?

Thanks, Troy, that's exactly the one I'm thinking of. Couldn't recall the name. I tried to get one this fall, too, but was beat to it by seconds. Really, though, what good is a 4 year old 40" koi, huh? Why didn't you get yours?

I got smart, and was scared it would out grow my 500,000 gal. pond. I reserve the right to change my mind, my dealer is going to Japan in the Spring.

Got smart or got scared? Sure would be cool. Then again, you'd have to house that beast over the winter.

There are red-eyed Kigois and Chagois (normal eyed) and Karashigoi (a koi that's half Kigoi and half Chagoi).

This is a video I posted last month of some Chagoi, Kigoi, and Karashigoi being sold at Andrew's Koi.

Andy said that the Karashigoi he kept in the back had grown from 10" to 17" - 18" in 3 months. He said they are growing faster than Chagoi.

Maybe not the most beautiful Koi, I did find the pinkish Karashigoi and Gin Rin Chagoi interesting.

Yes, they are. Don't know how I missed your post, Ricshaw, but I've read it now. Interesting fish.
