Lack of leave in large pond, overload in lily pond

I was wondering how the large pond would do with leafs, it has two apple trees, one large maple, bordering it. And woods surrounding, 50 - 100 feet away.

The lily pond in the front is surrounded by trees also.

    Here is what is happening:

The Large pond! almost leaf less, must be the berms, the wind pattern and pure LUCK lol
These pictures are after a very windy, gusty day, leaves flying everywhere.

The lily pond non stop leaf netting, but it is easy to net them out of.

Pond is still in progress, 85 foot stream, one large pond, multiple small ones, multiple waterfalls, one large bog garden / filter

I never tire of seeing your property and ponds.

I think you're right...the berms and the way the wind pattern flows in that area. On the lily pond, that dirt wall brakes the wind hard, so the leaves just have no choice than to hit the wall and go straight down. In the large pond they can just keep flowing.
This is my opinion. It is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Another good reason to install skimmers.
I have 3 giant oaks about forty feet from the pond and Japanese maples everywhere. My skimmer works great with leafs. If the basket fills the leafs are still drawn toward the skimmer.

Yes, Addy, I think Koipeepr is right that the wall behind the lily pond is your problem. Your place is amazing.

I net my pond because there are too many trees too close. No worrying about keeping the skimmer cleaned out with a net. This year I did the net differently so I can sit underneath it.

Since this picture was taken, the leaves have been piling up all around the base of the net.

I threw up my pool net much like yours Peppy. I can't sit under it, but it solved my leaf issue. It ain't pretty, but it's effective until all the leaves are down. I figure another three weeks or so at least.
This is my opinion. It is worth exactly what you paid for it.

It's sad when the pond has to be netted. I don't think the fish like it either. They don't seem to swim around at the top as much.

We will have the skimmer running in the large pond next year, the little lily pond, no biggy to grab the net and pull out the leaves. ..........it is just water at this time too lol.

Addy, I can't believe you don't throw at least one fish in all that water, LOL! It would be killing me.

LOL peppy, think it would be a lil cool right now to try to introduce a poor little fish. The water is 50 or lower now. Sigh we are now below normal in temperature, freeze watch etc. Maybe I will get a few small ones and put them in my in door lily container. Let them grow some for the spring.

The main leaves hitting the lily pond are blowing right down the drive from the two large maples that are dropping right now.

Well I did mean earlier in the season, LOL. I started lots of little fishies out inside. Where there's water, I have to put a fish. No control.
