    a-1koifish

Does anyone know or have any information concerning an ebay dealer with the handle of: a-1koifish ? A-1koifish appears to be somewhat local to me and they have a couple of nice fish on ebay right now. The Gin Matsuba seems to be very nice in particular.

I've never heard of them but be careful buying off eBay.

I totally agree and would insist on seeing the fish, and meeting the vendor, in person before purchase. The only reason I am remotely interested is that they seem to be about an hour away from me.

The seller has Positive Feedback: 100%

If Concord, CA is local to you, ask the seller if you can see the fish.

Seller only has 1 feedback as a "Seller" all other feedback is as a buyer

I contacted this seller and received a prompt and seemingly reasonable reply but there seems to be some confusion. Here is the reply I got:

"Sure may i ask if you have any questions about the fish before heading over to our location?
The pickup cost is 10% of total instead of freight cost.
You can contact me at 9252360776"

Here is my reply and I am waiting to hear back:

Hello, I am a bit confused about the pickup cost since this fish is advertised as free shipping. Do you mean to say there is a 10% discount if picked up?

    Questions I have:

How long have you had the fish?
    Did you import from Japan?
Did you quarantine the fish? If so what is your quarantine procedure (what treatments and for how long)?
Do you have other fish for sale besides the two you have on ebay?

Just got the latest reply from the dealer:

Cost for the fish is $475 plus local tax , no discount for pickup.
The Gin Matsuba is 3 1/2 years old.
Yes All of our fish are imported from japan.
We do have many more available but not until next year as they are in quarantine.
We quarantine for a minimum of 1 month with salt and water heating procedure. Then fish are sent to tanks for retail.
This fish was kept for grow out and has great potential.
    Thank you
    A-1

18" seems a bit small for 3 1/2 year old fish that was being kept for grow out??? I think I will pass on this dealer for now.

Do you like the koi or not?

I do not see what is good about this koi for 475.00.
