Bottom drain in the cold north winters, help.

So im redoing my koi pond, bigger, deeper , I'm from North of prince Albert Saskatchewan Canada, I'm thinking of some sort of bottom drain, it gets really cold here in winter and freezes deep, if I put a bottom drain in at 4.5 feet deep I would have to drain the pond which is 6000gal to empty the piping before winter sets in , or I could go with a retro pond drain and remove it easy, am I missing something, any suggestions thanks

I like your idea so it can easily be removed as you prep for winter.
At some point common sense must prevail.
